Still reads 200 miles remaining. I have tried resetting it via the check button that resets everything else but no luck.
At least I would have filled some fluid into the tank before going to the dealer, just in case. I have a 2012 Duramax, and when my "service exhaust fluid" message came on, I actually had enough DEF in my tank. The dealer checked and it was due to a bad DEF heater. The DEF systems have been notorious for problems.

You find to wires coming out of the main def system harness leading to a two wire plug on top of tank. From the plug the wires continue to the sending unit. Unplug the plug and check resistance, if unusally high or an open is found it is bad.
