I installed a new filter and 3.8 quarts of 10w-30 Valvoline SJ rated oil. I have since read several articles and chats that state the additives in 10-w30 (energy conserving) oil can cause clutch slippage and damage.

I found two filters from Fram that would fit our bike PH6607 and PH6017A. I have always used Mobil 1 full synthetic motorcyle oil and a Honda oem filter but was at the auto parts store where i buy the oil and they had these filters listed in the book for the VTX 1300. Vinish. Virtually any brand of 10w fork oil will be fine. You don't need an expensive type. Cheap Wallyworld 10w fork oil is fine. Be aware that a special tool is needed to disassemble the left fork on an 1800. Also be aware that a special tool or a home-made tool is needed to drive in the fork seals on any VTX.
