I have done runs with pistols and not had scavs treat me any different from other players. you need atleast 1 extra mag with pistol runs. if you dont have extra mags you will be tagged and cursed. and ofc you have to have ammo in the mags. 1.No pistol. Whoever is going to be tagged/cursed comes in with nothing but ears usually, in my group at least. They'll get a gun, armored rig, helmet, and backpack usually. It's something we just rotate around and it helps us pull more scavs. Plus it's fun to say "I'm giving you a loadout" and handing someone a tricked out m4 and whatnot.You need at least a rig + pistol if I'm not mistaken, to not get tagged and cursed, a backpack might be necessary too. I went in as a trio once with a dude who only had a pistol in factory and we were immediately rushed by 3 scavs. Unless that was recently changed. Normally I would also recommend this, but this wipe especially, tagged and cursed seems much more severe. I'm doing a hardcore playthrough, so I've been tagged a lot more then usual and the scavs will randomly turn from 150m+ and one tap. Lol.
